Hamlet. Some incoherent thoughts
Zomg. Just saw Hamlet *points to icon* and wow. It was every bit as good as I'd hoped it would be. The bit at the end when (spoiler alert)Gertrude takes the cup and Claudius tells her not to drink, and she gets this look on her face and you know she knows the cup is poisoned and she drinks it anyway - we yelled. That was bloody brilliant. I'd never seen it done that way, and it was fantastic. Tennant was as good as I thought he'd would be. Couple of 'Doctorisms' slipped in, but can't be helped, I think. It was the 'well' that did it. I do think I've been corrupted by slash fiction because, at the end when Hamlet (spoiler alert) is dying in Horatio's arms, he says 'Horatio' and I said 'kiss me'. Because frankly that would have been awesome. I so ship Hamlet/Horatio now. :) I thought the Ophelia was quite good. We (my friends and I) were saying how difficult that part is because it's hard to find a good interpretation of the character. I personally think that she thinks she is responsible for her father's death because she rejected Hamlet - on her father's orders. Anyway...to bed with me. to sleep, perchance to dream... |

I'm so lucky!
Because I have awesome friends who are awesome, I now own not one but TWO Doctor Who DVD sets - series 2 and 3! They tend to run expensive here in the states - upwards of $70, but Amazon had a sale, and I got lucky because I have, as I said, awesome friends who love me. And get me. On Amazon, however, they are still less expensive than usual ($41.00) and my sister gave me a $30 Amazon gift card, so I am planning on getting myself one more. I'm leaning toward Series 1, but am idly wondering if I should get 4, then I'll have the majority of DT's stuff*. What do you think, flist? Series 1 or 4? *I do wonder how they'll package Series 5 - lots of extra space there. |

OMG You guys, guess what my BFF got me for Christmas? Doctor Who, Series 2! Woo hoo doesn't quite cover it. She thought I already had series 1. I told her 2 was great because it is David Tennant's start. I may get on for myself after the holidays. Anyway...So happy. It has the video diaries and the confidentials and some of my favourite episodes. School Reunion, for one. Probably won't watch Love and Monsters or Fear Her quite as much as the others but - OMG I HAS DOCTOR WHO ON DVD! Yay. |

Dreaming is free. The rest of the time we need wages.
Had a dream I was hanging out with President Obama. He had, for some reason, an extremely large cat called Lucy. Lucy ran away and I found her. She was at the bottom of the mountain that we, for some reason, were on. So, then the Prez and I were chatting. For some reason my Anglophila came up in conversation, and he was all 'hey America is awesome' and then I said to him, 'get me healthcare, and we'll talk.' It was extremely witty in my dream. He asked me to do some petitioning in South Philadelphia. I pointed out I might actually get killed, but said I'd do it. Then he gave me his email address. It was in code. |

The weather outside if Frightful.
Sort of one of those things where one says, 'Yes, I know I said I wanted it to snow for Christmas, but really, this is total overkill.' SO MUCH snow, and it isn't stopping. And Charlie is with his dad so I feel sort of off. I don't like not having him near when the weather is bad. I worry that I won't get him back. Which is stupid, I know, but no one ever said being a mother is all logic. I went to a friend's house today - spent all day watching Slings and Arrows, which was brilliant. On the way I passed this big holly tree, and it was so pretty, and looked so much like a symbol of the season, I had to take a picture: |

Once, a few years ago, I was having a conversation with a friend about Rupert Everett. I think he'd just come out, around that time. At any rate, she said she didn't like knowing if an actor was gay, because it was harder to believe that actor in a romantic girl/boy type thing, if you know that the actor doesn't normally swing that way. She jokingly added it also made it harder to fantasise about them. I disagreed, of course, and I think it's generally been proven that what the actor/actress does on his or her own time doesn't reflect their ability to make us squee over the characters they play, or over the fact they are dead sexy. I bring this up because the other night I had a sex dream starring Neil Patrick Harris. And it was pretty hot. Check and mate, says my subconscious. Check and mate. |

Charlie the Trumpeter
Charlie's concert was last night. He was so excited for it, I can't even tell you. It was a nice show - such a difference between grade school and middle school/high school. The kids can actually play now. I have to post photos when I get home, but I was able to get some clear (if dark) shots of Charlie because he was not sitting behind a music stand. Why, you may ask? Because he memorised the score, that's why. It's really almazing to watch him up there, getting actual music out of the thing, and just enjoying himself so much. I also, for those of you who have friended me on FB, have a clip of him playing trumpet on there. |
